Open House Advertising
In 2007, Edina Realty made a strategic decision to pull open-house advertising from the Star Tribune and publish open house information instead on edinarealty.com, while simultaneously shifting corporate advertising support from brand-building TV and radio spots to web-site traffic-driving internet, billboard and print ads. The results have been extraordinary. Despite the slowing market overall, I have personally never seen more open house traffic at our listings than what I've seen since this shift occurred. In hindsight it shouldn't be a surprise-newspaper readership is tanking, and internet use has long since gone well past critical mass. We love holding our listings open-the more people who see the home, the better. And the traffic has been great since the end of 2006 across the board.
