Coordinating showings of your home
All Edina Realty agents and other cooperating brokers will call your listing associate's office to request an appointment to show or preview your property. The office appointment coordinator will call to inform you of requests for appointments. The coordinator will also contact the agent to confirm the appointment.
If every attempt to reach you has been made, the appointment coordinator will go ahead and confirm the appointment with the requesting agent. Unless specifically instructed, it is presumed that you do not want to miss any opportunity to show your property to interested parties.
A request for an appointment is usually made within an hour or two but could be as soon as a few minutes, or as distant as a day or two. Agents attempt to be punctual, however, circumstances may cause them to be earlier or later than expected. In the event an associate needs to cancel an appointment, you will be notified as soon as possible.
Your agent will see that any special instructions you have communicated are noted in your property records. Appropriate information (pets, security, etc.) will be provided to the requesting agent when the appointment is confirmed.
You are obviously strongly encouraged to leave the property for all showings. In the rare instance when an agent is just previewing the home without a client present, it is okay to stay if it is an inconvenience for you to leave for that appointment. If an showing agent is either a bit early or late for an appointment, they may catch you home. In that case, licensed agents should identify themselves and offer you their business card. If a card is not offered to you, don't hesitate to request one. (If you are not present during the appointment, the agent will gain access by using the lock box on the property.)
Please inform your agent of any extended period of time when you will not be available to give permission for appointments. If possible, you should provide your associate with a number where you can be reached in the event an offer needs to be presented. If anyone stops by without an appointment to see your property, ask them to call the phone number on the "For Sale" sign to schedule an appointment. Even an individual identifying themselves as a agent needs to coordinate appointments through Edina Realty.
